Beginning of the year 2025 was very busy and fruitful for us in regard to the first of The Big Four trainings, which are part of the Erasmus + program „Open Door – nature for social inclusion”.
From 28th of January till 1st of February, Imago Foundation team hosted partners from Czech Republic, Romania and Spain. Together we were increasing our competences on the topic of accessibility: how to assist and support people with special needs, especially in the natural environment.
On day 1, we had the opportunity to participate in the workshop led by Anna Janus, Expert on accessibility for people with special needs. The lecture was enriched by many useful activities based on specific examples.
Day 2 was filled with the activities with Practical Accessibility Experts. We learned different perspectives on disabilities directly from personal experiences of the trainers: Monika Łojba gave us a good insight on visual impairments, Łukasz Siemież showed us how to assist persons who use wheelchairs, Karolina Żurawska taught us polish sign language and spoke about savoir vivre in regard to people with hearing impairments and last but not least, Hanna Daszowska shared her perspective on invisible, neurological disability.
Experts led us through a lot of personal stories, as well as activities which prepared participants for future nature based programs’ implementations in their own countries.
Day 3 was all about testing learnt solutions in the real outdoor (this time in the green/urban area), share good practices based on the Imago’s BASE CAMP experiences and knowledge and to summarize all 3 intense days of learning.
Except for hard work, youth workers and professionals had an opportunity to have a touristy look on Wrocław and its hidden germs as well as share delicious polish food over the Welcome Dinner.
